Mr A instructed us to bring a claim against the Freeholder of his property due to their failure to keep the roof in good repair, leading to a leak into the property, despite the numerous complaints he had made over several years. After a period of negotiations, we entered into an agreement with the Freeholder wherein they agreed to complete the repairs within 4 months, pay Mr A £10,000 in compensation and pay Mr A’s legal costs. Unfortunately, after 4 months had passed, Mr A got in touch to say that the repairs had not been completed. We jumped right back on the case and asked the Freeholder for their reason for the delay and a further sum of compensation. After further negotiations, the Freeholder agreed to pay Mr A further compensation in the sum of £3,000 for the delay and agreed a new completion date for repairs. Mr A is happy with this outcome and we remain in contact with him to ensure the repairs are completed by the new agreed date.
